Idris Elba splits with long time girlfriend

Hollywood star Idris Elba has split from his long-term girlfriend and mother of his son.

The Brit actor, 43, has moved out of the home he shared with Naiyana Garth in South West London.

He is living in a two-bed flat nearby to be close to 22-month-old Winston.

The break-up was confirmed days after the Luther star was seen partying with Naomi Campbell at a New York club.

A source close to make-up artist Naiyana, 28, said: “It ended very recently and it’s too soon for her to talk about it.

“They’ve kept it very quiet so she’s surprised people know already.

“It’s very sad that this has happened while Idris is experiencing the highest points of his professional career and they can’t celebrate it with each other.”

The couple started dating in the summer of 2013 and Naiyana fell pregnant.

Their relationship coincided with twice-married Idris being elevated to one of the world’s most in demand actors thanks to films including Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom and Beast Of No Nation and hit TV drama Luther.

He sparked rumours his relationship was in trouble at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in LA on January 30.

He attended the bash with 13-year-old daughter Isan, from his marriage to first wife Kim, rather than Naiyana.

At Sunday night’s British Film Awards, where he won Best Actor for Beasts of No Nation, he thanked everyone except Naiyana in his acceptance speech.

When asked if he was newly single, Idris could only reply: “That’s the media for you.”

A rep for Idris declined to comment when asked about his relationship status by The Sun.

Idris, who has launched his own clothing range with Superdry, and Naiyana were last seen looking loved up in public in June during a London Fashion Week event.

Discussing how he juggles his family life with his various other commitments, including a DJing career, he said in November: “My relationship with my children is very, very strong, considering I’m never home. I do have a quirky existence.

“It’s not ideal. I move around.”
