PHOTOS: Bloodbath on streets of Kumasi Tafo – One killed, cars vandalised in free for all fight

One person is reported missing, presumably dead, in a free for all fight in the Kumasi suburb of Old Tafo, reports reaching indicate.

Angry youth wielding deadly weapons including hammers, cutlasses, clubs and other offensive weapons, according to Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor are patrolling the streets of the old Kumasi suburb.

According to Erastus, the altercation between the youth, believed to be mostly Muslims, and persons believed to be sympathetic to the Tafo Chief started when the Chief of the town led a group to pull down a wall being built by the Muslims at the Tafo cemetery.

The wall, he says, was being constructed by the Muslims to separate portions of one of the biggest cemeteries in the Ashanti Regional capital.

“However, this did not go down well with the Chief who insisted it be destroyed because he was never informed before the wall was put up…,” Erastus said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Wednesday.

Not satisfied with the decision of the Muslims to defy his orders and put up the wall, the Tafo Chief was said to have led a team of youth to the cemetery to pull the wall down.

The verbal exchanges got heated up when, according to Erastus, the Chief slapped one of the young men constructing the wall.

“The guy, I understand also slapped the Chief back and later went to call in other persons and hell has broken loose…,” Erastus added.

Several persons, he said have been injured as a result of the disagreement which has resulted in the free for all fight on the streets of Tafo.

“I am told one person is dead but I am yet to see the person who they claim is dead…,” Erastus added.

About 20 military men and dores of other security personnel, Erastus added, have been deployed to keep peace in the area.
