VIDEO: Captain Smart reveals SSNIT spent $89m on software not $72m
Documents in possession of Captain Smart revealed that SSNIT had earlier budgeted about $34 million in 2012 for the procurement of the Operational Business Suite software.
Captain Smart on his flagship Fabewoso morning show on Adom FM on Wednesday 6th September, revealed that the amount of $72 million being circulated in the media as being that of what SSNIT spent on the software is false but rather SSNIT spent a whooping $89 million.
Some weeks ago it emerged that the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) spent about $72 million (which is twice the price it had earlier on budgeted for) on the acquisition of a software which could enable the automation of operations at SSNIT.
The appalling part of this story is the fact that the said software was not even the actual needed one supplied to SSNIT by the contractor.
Documents in possession of Captain Smart revealed that SSNIT had earlier budgeted about $34 million in 2012 for the procurement of the Operational Business Suite software. Furthermore, the documents revealed that somebody at SSNIT deliberately added the number “0” to the amount budgeted for the software which rocketed the budget to $89 million.
The contract awarded to Perfect Business Solutions Limited included the provision of Pension Administration Solution, Mobile Registration Workstations, Desktop Registration Workstations, Biometric Solutions and Card Printers among others.
Captain Smart went on to reveal that misapplication, misappropriation and embezzlement at SSNIT amounted to $1.9 billion.
